This is a 29 year old man with a several month history of weight loss and diarrhea. The biopsy is from the duodenum.
Microscopic Findings
Sections show a relatively preserved crypt-to-villous ratio, with no evidence of atrophy. |

The lamina propria shows an increase in cellularity, populated by a mononuclear cell infiltrate of lymphocytes and plasma cells. No significant architectural distortion of the glands or crypts are noted. |

Many of the villi contain an increase in intraepithelial lymphocytes, extending through the full length of the villi and numbering over 1 lymphocyte per 3-4 enterocytes. | ||||
