Background
A myxoma is a sharply circumscribed collection of mucin within the dermis. The mucin is associated with stellate fibroblasts, with prominent capillaries, mast cells, collagen, and reticulin fibers. Angiomyxomas have a prominent vascular component. These tumors can be sporadic however, the association with systemic syndromes must always be investigated.
