Background

A myxoma is a sharply circumscribed collection of mucin within the dermis. The mucin is associated with stellate fibroblasts, with prominent capillaries, mast cells, collagen, and reticulin fibers. Angiomyxomas have a prominent vascular component. These tumors can be sporadic however, the association with systemic syndromes must always be investigated.

Syndrome Description
NAME Nevi, atrial myxoma, myxoid tumors of the skin, and endocrine abnormalities
LAMB Cutaneous lentigines, atrial myxoma, mucocutaneous myxomas, and blue nevi
Carney's Multiple lentigines and blue nevi, melanotic schwannoma, myxomas, and endocrine overactivity
